An enterprising merchant, Shahabuddin Onu, has set up a school beside the Chandpur–Haimchar upazila link road at Luxmipur village under Chandpur Sadar upazila.

Located some six km south of Chandpur district town, Shahabuddin School & College started its joruney in 2015.

The educational institution was established with the aim to provide education to rural and underprivileged children,

Currently, the school has 150 students and 12 teachers. It admits students up to Class IV.

The two-storied school has an exceptionally good structure. The classrooms are well ventilated and have enough light. There school boasts of a big playground, a green campus, a shahid minar, a mosque, drinking water facilities and clean wash rooms.

Talking to the Independent , the headmaster, Shankar Kr Saha, said the school will be gradually upgraded to the secondary and HSC levels. "We want to make our school an ideal educational institution in the district," he added.

Shahabuddin Onu said: "I have set up this school as part of my social responsibility. This school will provide education to rural and underprivileged children in exchange of nominal fees. Those who are unable to pay any fee will face no problem. They will be given education free of cost here."
