Today, three theatre productions will be staged by three different troupes on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital. Popular theatre troupe Nagorik Natyangan will stage its 20th production titled ‘Gahar Badshah O Banesa Poree’, based on a folk story, today at the National Theatre Hall of BSA, while theatre troupe Palakar will stage its acclaimed production ‘Ujane Mrityu’, based on Syed Waliullah’s last novel with the same title, at the Studio Theatre Hall and Bibortan from Jessore will stage Koibartagatha at the Experimental Theatre.

‘Gahar Badshah O Banesa Poree’ revolves around the Bishingsha Badshah, who ventures into the forest named Gilamight for hunting. The role of Gahar will be played by two youngsters named Asib Chowdhury and Jewel Johur, while director of the play Hridi Haque will play the role of Banesa Poree.

Directed by Shamim Sagor, the play ‘Ujane Mrityu’ depicts the plight of poor people living in the coastal areas through conversations between two fishermen. The story shows Roj, a boat rider, is pulling a boat oar towards upstream, but Swotto (white dress) wants to go back to the ebb.

Written by Abdullah Hel Mahmud and directed by Faiz Zahir, Bibortan’s production ‘Koibartogatha’ questions the documentation process of history, where the losers are often misrepresented.

Tickets will be available in front of the venue before the shows.
