Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited, Gazipur zonal office disconnected around 4000 metres illegal gas lines in Kewa Dakkhin Khanda area of the city yesterday. Manager of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company, Gazipur zonal office Engineer Ajit Chandra Deb said on information, they conducted a raid with the help of executive magistrate of Gazipur district administration Thander Kamruzzaman.
He said a number of people connected gas lines in their houses illegally for domestic uses without the permission of Titas authority. The authority cut off 4,000 meters illegal gas lines of 200 houses. The team also sealed off the source of delivery line and seized pipes and others materials used for connecting the lines illegally. He said locals connected these gas lines illegally from the high pressurized industrial lines that is very dangerous. Accident could be occurred any time.
However, the authority also disconnected gas line of Unilliance Textile Limited at South Bhangnahati for remaining about Tk 5.14 crore due gas bill. Manager of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Gazipur, zonal officee Eng Ajit Chandra Deb, deputy manager Shabiul Awal, Abu Sufian and Abdul Alim Rasel, deputy manager (revenue) Md Mosarrof Hossain, assistant manager Mohammed Rezaul Haque, sub-assistant engineer Mohammed Sabinur Rahman, SM Anowar Hossain and Asadullah Kaiser were present during the operation.
