25 to vie for each seat at Barisal University

The admission test for the first year honours courses of Barishal University for the 2019-20 academic session will be held on October 18 and 19, 2019.

Total 36,685 candidates have been registered their names to participate in admission test of BU. On average 25 applicants will vie for each seat of Barishal University. Besides, 13,271 applied for changing their subjects under different units.

The admission process of the university began from September 01 and ended on September 25. Distribution of admit cards started from October 1, 2019 through BU website www. admission. eis. bu.ac.bd. Assistant professor Rahat Hossain Faisal of computer science and engineering department and convener of the admission test (for 2019-2010 session) committee, revealed the information.

Int’l Day for Older Persons observed at DIU

With a call to develop the standard of living of the senior citizens in the country, The International Day for Older Persons’ was observed on Tuesday in a befitting manner.

Bangladesh Probin Nagorik Kollan Society and Daffodil International University (DIU) organised a rally and a discussion on DIU campus at Sobhanban here, marking the day.

While addressing the programme as the chief guest, Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, MP said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken various initiatives for the welfare of the older persons. “The government has provided adult allowances which increase the social dignity of the elderly people. We should not think that elderly people lose their working capacity…We have to respect them more and utilize them in a proper way as they can help us with their vast experiences,” Taposh said.

DIU Vice-Chancellor Yousuf M Islam, Prof Humayun Kabir Chowdhury and Dr Sharifa Begum also addressed the discussion. Justice Momtaz Uddin Ahmed, chairman of Bangladesh Press Council and Bangladesh Probin Nagorik Kollan Society, chaired the programme.

‘Joutirman’ unveiled at IU

BSS, Islamic University

Shapla Forum, an alliance of progressive teachers of Islamic University (IU, unveiled ‘Joutirman’, a souvenir on Bangabandhu’s autobiography, on Tuesday.

Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari unveiled the souvenir as the chief guest in a meeting of the forum held at Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman auditorium on the campus in the afternoon. IU pro vice-chancellor Prof M Shahinoor Rahman and treasure Prof M Selim Toha addressed here as special guests with Prof Rizuanul Islam, president of the organisation in the chair. Over 100 teachers of the alliance were present at the event conducted by its general secretary Prof Dr M Mahbubar Rahman.

Earlier, Shapla Forum arranged a tree plantation programme near the auditorium.
