A passenger of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw was killed and five others including four passengers and its driver were injured in a road crash at Alalpur on Mymensingh-Phulpur road in Mymensingh sadar upazila yesterday morning.

Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Quoting local people, Khandaker Shaker Ahmed, officer-in-charge (Investigation) of Kotwali Police Station said the accident took place when a Sherpur bound bus collided head on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Alalpur area, killing a passenger on the spot and injuring five others at around 11am.

Soon after the incident, local people blocked the road for one and half-an-hour, disrupting vehicular movement.

On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Police seized the bus but its driver and helpers managed to flee the scene.
