World’s best ODI all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan left Dhaka yesterday evening to join the Barbados Tridents camp for the seventh edition of the Caribbean Premier League.
The ace all-rounder of Bangladesh did not talk with the media while leaving the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Kumar Das also earned call-up from CPL. He will play for Jamaica Tallawahs. He will also fly to West Indies today. The Bangladesh Cricket Board provided the ‘No Objection Certificate‘ to Liton yesterday.
With just two wins so far in this season, Barbados Tridents are at the 4th spot of the points table. Shakib could be a great addition to Barbados Tridents’ squad as they get closer to the qualifier stages.
Barbados Tridents are up against Trinbago Knight Riders for their next game on Sep 26 at Kensington Oval. The defending champions TKR have recently slipped to the second spot in the points table with four wins out of 6 matches.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh iconic all-rounder Shakib al Hasan played a match-winning innings of 70 not out against Afghanistan whose effect has been fallen on his new rankings. He placed 32nd up five positions in the latest MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Twenty20 International Player Rankings.
International Cricket Council (ICC), the world cricket apex body, released their new rankings in the aftermath of the Bangladesh-Zimbabwe-Afghanistan tri-nation series, India-south Africa series and Ireland-Scotland-Netherlands triangular series.
Shakib chalked up 96 runs in the four-match road string in the round-robin league phase of the tri-nation series on home territory. Even though he claimed four wickets in the meet, his ranking has been downed one place in bowling. He is currently languishing at eighth position.
On the other hand, Mahmudullah Riyad dipped two places and placed 56th in the latest ICC rankings. Riyad, who returned to bowling from a length injury layoff due to his shoulder niggles, showed no sign of improvement as he remained wicketless in the tri-series though he was in merry spin with his willow.
