Even though Afghanistan is newer in Test cricket, they play fearless cricket have giants-killing instinct what they showed and proved in shorter formats of cricket after being stepped into international cricket arena.

In June 2019, the Asian uprising team played their debut Test against India, where they lost the match to this top-flight team but they later on won their second match against another Test novice Ireland. To them as Afghanistan caption Rashid Khan said that Test is all about patient, cool and calm.

Khan said that they are all focused on their respective roll to do well and want to win the game for the team what is their one and only target in the Test match.

“Definitely, our target is to win the match and that’s why we are here. Everyone is aiming to win the game. Our only focus is to do well and win the game for the team,” said Rashid Khan, who will strike down his name in cricket folklore as the youngest skipper in Test arc while he will get down playing the Test whose age will be 20 years and 350 days.

“We had one bad game against India and actually to be honest we didn’t know what we were doing that day. It was the first game for us and surprising for us to play a Test against India in India and it looked like a dream for the whole country. That is something we didn’t quite control our nerves and ourselves as well,” Khan told media at the pre-match day practice session at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram yesterday.

“In the next game, we’re 80 to 90 per cent better from the first game. So as I said, the more we play, the better we will be. Both the teams have all the chances to win the game. Both the teams have skills and talent and experience. Let’s see who does well on the day will win the game,” he added.

The mainstay of the Afghan spin battery believes that if they can play positive brand of cricket as per their strength, the result of the match will be positive for which they are prepared well.

Khan billed Bangladesh a better side than them, saying that Bangladesh played 114 Tests since 2000 where Afghanistan played only two Tests so far. He said that they have prepared them well and will attempt to deliver their utmost best in the Test.

“You know all while playing in such condition as like in Asia, Bangladesh, India or other countries, mostly you’ll rely on the spinners because these wickets are used to work better for the spinners. They can work better in these wickets,” the right-handed Rashid said.

“We did well in the four-day games in the past against Scotland, Ireland. We’ve that kind of experience which took us to the five-day Test matches. We’ve played two games against India and Ireland. We’ve the little bit of experience,” he also said.

“Definitely Bangladesh team is in a much better position than us as they’ve played more than 100 Test matches. One thing is, you can keep learning from each and every game. So this format is new for us. But definitely we’ve the talent and have the skills and we just need to make sure we play positive cricket. We play according to our strength and just believe in ourselves. This game is all about more patient and more cool and more calm and once we do that I think definitely the result will be positive,” he added.
