The Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution (BSTI) has cancelled the licences of 21 organisations for producing substandard products. Talking to The Independent, BSTI deputy director (CM) Riajul Haque said the organisation had cancelled a total of 31 licences. Among them, 10 organizsations have submitted applications for new licences, which BSTI has granted.

“We initially cancelled the licences of 31 products. Among them, 10 organisations have improved their product quality and applied for new licences for those products. After testing their products and finding the results to be satisfactory, we have given new licences to them.”

The products whose licenses were cancelled are Ghee of Banalata of Banalata Sweets and Bakery, Mirpur, Dhaka; drinking water of Al Safi of Al Safi Drinking Water, Mirpur Zoo Road, Dhaka; drinking water of Narjan of Sahari and Brothers, East Rampura, Dhaka; drinking water of Morn Dew of Morn Dew Pure Drinking Water, Mirpur-11, Dhaka; drinking water of RR Dew of R R Dew Purified Drinking Water, East Shewrapara, Dhaka; soft drink powder of Testy, Tani and Taskia of Santo Food Products, Keraniganj, Dhaka; soft drink powder of Priya of Jahangir Food Products, Kamrangichar, Dhaka; chili flakes of Pour Hathazari of S S Cosumer Products, Chattagram; laccha semail of Kiron of Kiron Traders, Naogoan; iodized salt of Noor Special of Noor Salt Industries, Foriyapotti, Jhalokati; iodized salt of Madina and Starship of Laki Salt Industries, Monohoripatti, Jhalokati; iodized salt of Taj Salt Industries, Station Mahalla, Jhalokati; iodized salt of Molla Salt of Molla Salt Industries, Char Saiyodpur, Narayanganj; laccha semai of Jedda of Jedda Food Products, Kathpotti, Jhalokati; chips of Sun of Kasem Food Products Ltd., Konapara, Gazipur; laccha semai of Omrito Food Products, Babuganj, Barishal; turmeric powder of Three Star Flower Mill, Gosaildanga, Chattagram; Khusbu ghee of Agroo Organic Product Ltd., Dhaka; laccha semai of Madina of J K Food Products, Sadar, Jhalokati; Uth iodized salt of Bismillah Salt Factory, Puran Bazaar, Chadpur; Nazrul iodized salt of Puran Bazaar, Chandpur.

The products whose licenses were withheld are laccha semai of Pran of Pran Agro Llt, Sopora, Rajshahi; turmeric powder of Pran of Pran Agro Ltd, Natore; Misti Mela laccha semai of Misti Mela Food Products, Chattagram; natural mineral water of Dankan of Dankan Products Ltd., Kazi Nazrul Avenue, Dhaka; mustard oil of Pusto of Sabnam Vegetable Oil Industry Ltd., Rupganj, Narayanganj; iodized salt of Dada Super, New Jhalokati Salt Mills, Sadar, Jhalokati; Tin Teer iodized salt of Quality Salt Industries, Sadar, Jhalokati; curry powder of Danish of Danish Food Ltd, Kachpur, Narayanganj; Danish turmeric powder of Danish Foods Ltd, Kachpur, Narayanganj; iodised salt of Confidence of Confidence Salt Ltd, Bowalkhali, Chattagram.
