Newly-appointed Bangladesh national team physiotherapist Julian Calefato arrived here in Dhaka to join the Tigers’ fortress ahead of the one-off Test against Afghanistan yesterday. The physiotherapist, who has dual citizenship of South Africa and Italy landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital city at 10:30am (Saturday) was greeted by BCB representative Wasim Khan.
Local physio Baijadul Islam was working with the team so long after Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is reluctant to renew the deal with the previous physio Thihan Chandramohan. Baijadul will be replaced by Calefato from Sunday. The South Africa-born physiotherapist will fly to Chattogram with the Tigers contingent at 3:00pm today (Sunday).
Julian will start his Bangladesh stint in Chattogram, where Bangladesh will play its ensuing Test against its Asian rivals, starting at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in the port city on September 5. Before stepping into the Test, the visiting Afghanistan, who are now in Chattogram, will play a two-practice match, scheduled to be held at the M. A Aziz Stadium today.
