Bangladesh government yesterday said that the stripping of the Article 370 of the Indian Constitution by the Indian government is an internal matter of India. The government came up with the official statement about its position on Jammu and Kashmir after sixteen days when the Article 370 was erased from Indian Constitution on August 5.

Foreign ministry in its press released mentioned: “Bangladesh maintains that the abrogation of Article 370 by the Indian Government is an internal issue of India.” It also said, “Bangladesh has always advocated, as a matter of principle, that maintaining regional peace and stability, as well as development should be a priority for all countries.”

However, such position on Jammu and Kashmir came officially just on the concluding day of the three-day official visit of Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

Earlier on Tuesday, after holding bilateral talks with Jaishankar at the State Guest House Jamuna, Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen was asked by the journalists at his office whether they talked on the Kashmir issue. The foreign minister said they did not have any discussion on the Kashmir issue but he said, “Kashmir issue is an internal matter of India. Indian foreign minister did not talk anything on the matter.”
