Training course for journalists begins

A three-day long training course on basic journalism began at the VIP Lounge of Khulna Press Club under Sadar police station in the city on Thursday. Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) and Khulna Divisional Press Club Federation (KDPCF) jointly arranged the training programme. Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Khulna Md Mostafa Kamal formally inaugurated the course as chief guest.   President of Khulna Press Club Mokbul Hossain Mintu and Secretary General of KDPCF AK Hiru were present as special guests. Vice-chairperson of KDPCF, also local Bengali daily ‘Dainik Janmobhumi’ editor Wadudur Rahman Panna presided over the opening session. The chief guest said authentic journalism in most important in the present era of information and technology. He said Bangladesh would progress in all sectors if the media avoids disseminating partial news. A report can cause great harm to a person, so journalists should cross check the information before releasing it. Every journalist must have a personal sense of ethics and responsibility, he said, adding that a journalist must be accountable to himself. He called upon the journalists to achieve the basic knowledge of reporting by PIB training course. A total of 32 journalists of different electronic, print and online media of Khulna city participated in the training course.
