‘Mister X’—a film jointly directed by Vicki Zahed and Muhammad Altamish Nabil, along with other 14 films have been selected for screening for the month of October, as a part of the yearlong film festival titled ‘New Films, New Filmmakers’. As many as fifteen films in three categories, those have been selected from the total submissions for this month, will be screened today at the auditorium of National Art Plaza of BSA, Segun Bagicha in the city. Filmmaker Ahsan Kabir’s full-length feature film ‘Protyabortan’ will also be screened at the National Art Plaza of BSA at 7 pm. The story and screenplay of ‘Mister X’ are written by Mahdy Hasan and the film stars Arman Haque Sunny, Iftikhar Ahmed Chowdhury, Naavin Gazi, Sourav Hasan and Kamrul Islam Sohag, among others. The yearlong festival is being jointly organised by Moviyana Film Society and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). Led by noted filmmaker Syed Salauddin Zaki, a seven-member jury board selected the films among the submitted films from October 1 to 10. The selected four short films—‘At The End Of An Endless River’ directed by Chowdhury Nayeem Bin Atique, ‘Kafkar Na Lekha Galpo’ by Jaber Hasan, ‘Permanent Marker’ by Swarup Chandra Dey, ‘Ungkar’ by Ahmed Himu, and one documentary film ‘Architecture and Environment in Dhaka City’ by Sharmin Doja will be screened at 3pm and the rest of the short films—‘Nagorik’ directed by Khandokar Mohammad Jakir, ‘Saaj’ by Jubaier Alam and Sakib Al Kader, ‘Black Magician’ by Foridul Ahsan Sourav, ‘Tirjok’ by Adil Khan, ‘A Book Behind the Shoes’ by Zahid Gagan, ‘The Smile’ by Arik Anam Khan, ‘Chakra’ by Motiur Sumon, and one documentary film ‘Muktanchal’ by Bratyo Amin will be screened at 5pm at the same venue.
