Prime Bank has become title sponsors for the Young Tigers National School Cricket Tournament for the next six years. Prime Bank’s partnership with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for the countrywide school cricket competition will commence with the 2015-16 season’s tournament which is expected to get underway in January 2016.
To mark the association, a logo unveiling ceremony was held at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium yesterday. The mascot for the event, Tinga-the Tiger cub, was also introduced at the programme.
BCB’s Media Committee Chairman Jalal Yunus welcomed Prime Bank’s initiative: “Prime Bank has developed a strong affinity with Bangladesh cricket and the BCB and such sponsorship augers very well for the foundation the game.”
Tanjil Chowdhury, Chairman of the BCB’s age group tournament committee and chairman of Prime Bank executive committee, said that there will be further boosts coming in the way of age-level cricket: “This is just the beginning and we hope to continue the support long into the future because we realise that the grassroots is the most sensitive and important investment for becoming a force in international cricket.”
BCB’s game development committee chairman Khaled Mahmud Sujan said: “A lot of our national cricketers are products of school cricket. A well organised school competition can go a long way in unearthing talent and creating healthy competition.”
BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury informed that the sponsorship is worth BDT 6.94 crore fifty thousand to be spent over a six-year period in running the Prime Bank Young Tigers National School Cricket Tournament across 64 districts of Bangladesh.
