Employees of Chittagong Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (CWASA) yesterday confined its managing director AKM Fazullah for two and half hours demanding to stop the process of abolition 117 posts of Class-III and Class-IV staffs. The staffs of CWASA confined the managing director (MD) in his room at first floor of CWASA building from 10:30 am to 1pm. “The authority is going to abolition a total of 117 posts of Class-III and Class IV grade staffs while increasing posts for first class and second class officers as per direction of a donor agency, said Tajul Islam, general secretary, CWASA Sramik Karmachari Union Parishad. “More than hundred workers were gathered before the office of MD, the agitated workers confined the MD about two and half hours demanding to withdraw the decision,” added Tajul Islam. “When the MD assured us that he would consider the demand then we left his office at around 1pm,” said Tajul Islam. Contacted, AKM Fazullah, told The Independent, “Nothing was happened, no donor agency give us any suggestion, we did not take any attempt to abolition any post. The workers came to me and informed me the matter.
