The government yesterday canceled Eid leave for all the officials of the shipping ministry and its three agencies to ensure hassle-free journey of the holidaymakers through waterway and due to the countrywide flood situation. “Leave of all the officials of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC)and Department of Shipping (DoS) has been cancelled due to the flood situation and Eid-ul-Azha celebration, said a press release signed by Senior Information and Public Relations officer of the ministry M Jahangir Alam Khan yesterday. The authority took the decision to make the smooth movements of homebound people during Eid festival, said the release.
