National Film Award-winning actress Mousumi, who has gained huge popularity over the years for her stellar performances, has been known among fans as ‘Priyadarshini’.

The recognition has been cemented recently as she was given the title of  ‘Priyadarshini’ at the ‘Shako Telefilm Award 2019’.

Through an initiative taken by eminent entertainment journalist Mohammad Ovi Moinuddin, media production house Shako Telefilm bestowed the title on the celebrated actress.

DhakaLive has news that on the eve of the 23rd anniversary of the establishment of Shako Telefilm, an award ceremony was organised on July 18 at the Officer’s Club in the capital’s Baily Road area, where Mousumi received the honour.

Ekushey Padak winning-director-producer-lyricist Gazi Mazharul Anwar and internationally-acclaimed singer Runa Laila handed over awards at the programme as chief guests.

Receiving the honour, Mousumi said, “The title of ‘Priyadarshini’ was given to me by late journalist Mohammad Awlad Hossain. After that, the media started to use the title whenever they were writing about me. Later, my fans and followers also started using it.”

“It was beyond my imagination that I will be given this title by Shako Telefilm and two prominent personalities in the country will hand me the honours. Truly, the title ‘Priyadarshini’ has given me a meaning. I would like to thank everyone for this.”

Ayash, son of audience-admired actor Ziaul Faruq Apurba, received the ‘Best Child Artiste’ award at the ceremony for his performance in Eid tele-drama ‘Bini Sutar Taan’.
