Visiting Afghanistan ‘A’ Team thrashed Bangladesh ‘A’ Team by 10-wicket in the first encounter of the five-match unofficial one-day series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram yesterday.
By virtue of winning the opening fixture, the tourists led the five-match series 1-0. The second match will be played at the same venue on Sunday.
Chasing the modest target of 202, Afghanistan ‘A’ Team did not get any big challenge from the local bowlers as they run down the target swimmingly with 37 balls to spare. Afghan openers- Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran started in gingerly fashion and gradually dug deep that could not break by local bowlers.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz clouted an unbeaten 105 off 138 with 11 boundaries and three sixes. Ibrahim Zardan were on 86 not out. His indefatigable 86-run innings contained eight fours and two sixes.
A total of eight bowlers including Rubel Hossain and Abu Jayed Rahi along with Sabbir Rahman bowled but none of them put any effect on rivals tent.
Earlier, Afif Hossain smashed 59 to help Bangladesh ‘A’ Team accumulate a modest of 201 for eight against visiting Afghanistan ‘A’ in their stipulated 50-over after being opted to bat.
