Govt won’t allow misuse of
digital security act: Anisul

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq yesterday said that the government will not allow anyone to misuse digital security act. “I would like to clarify that the ‘Digital Security Act’ has not been formulated to disrupt the constitutional rights of the people - the freedom of speech and expression and the disruption of the press freedom,” Huq said.

He came up with the remark after hailing from a meeting with 11 members’ delegations including Rensje Teerink, ambassador of European Union (EU) in Bangladesh.

The EU delegation met him at his Gulshan residence along with the US and Canadian envoys in Bangladesh.

Replying to a question, during the press briefing after the meeting with the delegates, the law minister told that ‘Digital Security Act’ has been made to suppress cybercrime only.

“I want to make very clear that we will not allow abuse this law. For that, we will do whatever we need to do,” he said. “The foreign envoys have expressed minor concern about Digital Security Act and they had mainly come here to apprise me about that.
