BCB floats ad to appoint 
head coach for Tigers

Seeking applications from qualified individuals for the post of the head coach for the Bangladesh national cricket team, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) floated their advertisement on July 11.

Just two days after being cut ties with Steve Rhodes, the BCB gave the advertisement to commission the successor of the English coach.

The BCB in their advertisement said that they are searching for such a coach who has strong communication and interpersonal skills along with excellent presentation and report writing skills.

In advertisement, it was told that the interested candidates are requested to send their curriculum vita (CV) along with a forwarding letter mentioning expected salary and other benefits on or before July 18.   

The procedure will be same as what did in the previous occasions: only the short-listed candidates will be called for interview.

They also depicted that the coach should have strong analytical ability and can work independently when necessary. Along with that, they have computer literacy/IT knowledge with ability to operate cricket coaching software packages.  

As key skill requirements, the keen people have ability to relate to international cricketers and ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals with diverse background.

In advertisement, it was also cited that the interested candidates as experience must have elite level coaching experience while preference will be given to candidates having experience with any ICC Full member national Team.  

It stipulated that the interested person must have strong knowledge and experience on coaching stint in order that he can accommodate his planning for training and managing programs for the Bangladesh national cricket team along with setting up goals and deadlines for the players in line with long term objective of the team.

As key responsibilities, It has been cited that the interested candidates who have to have organizing and delivering quality coaching with the aim of improving performance and results of Bangladesh National Cricket Team. Motivating the players and assisting them in reaching their optimum performance.

Regarding the matter, BCB director Jalal Younus said that they are yet to know who will be the next head coach because they give just the advertisement.

“It’s not my own matter. It’s a matter of the board. So, the decision will be taken in the board and resolved through it,” said Jalal Younus.

“Our CEO is looking into the entire matter. So, we are quite dark about the matter,” Jalal told media at his BCB office at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s former technical director Khaled Mahmud Sujon said that he is ready to step down from BCB’s director post if he is given the head coach role on long term basis to avoid conflict of interest.
