Police in separate drives arrested six people over rape and gang-rape incidents in Magura, Shariatpur and Munshiganj districts. In Magura, four miscreants were arrested yesterday for reportedly gang-raping a Class-VIII girl after abducting her at Tiorkhali village in Shalikha upazila.

The arrestees were identified as Jewel, Russel, Antar and Islam, residents of the village. Tariqul Islam, OC of Shalikha Police Station, said the miscreants abducted the girl while she was sleeping on the night of July 6. Later, they violated her one after another.

In Shariatpur, a man was arrested at Sakhipur in Bhedarganj upazila yesterday noon for allegedly raping his daughter-in-law.

The arrestee was identified as Giasuddin Dhali, 55, son of late Sona Mia Dhali of the village.

Enamul Haque, OC of the police station, said police arrested Giasuddin and sent the housewife to Sadar Hospital.

In Munshiganj, cop held a youth for raping a housewife at Haldia union in Louhajang.
