Fair investigation into Barnali’s murder demanded

A group of students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) yesterday demanded the fair investigation of Barnali Mazumder, who was found dead at a flat of Banashree in the capital on July 2. Over 50 students formed a human chain on the central shahid minar premises of the university around at 11.30 am.

Speakers at the programme urged government to bring the perpetrators under trail as early as possible by conducting a fair investigation.

Sheikh Adnan Fahad, Chairman of Journalism and Media Studies department said, “Barnali represents the oppressed women in our country. So, the government should stand against the oppression on this woman as early as possible”.

Teacher JU Journalism and Media Studies department Salma Ahmed, Mredha Md Shibli Noman and Assistant Director of JU Physical Education department S M Sadat Hossain addressed the programme among others.

Bangladesh Chhatra Union of JU unit, Socialist Student Front, JU Cultural Alliance and quota reformists’ of JU unit expressed solidarity with the protesters.

Mentionable, Barnali Mazumder (31), hails from Bhola, was wife of Mithun Dey was found dead at a flat in Banashree of the capital on July 2.
