A Bangladeshi cattle trader was killed by Indian Boarder Security forces (BSF) at Burimari frontier under Patgram upazila of the district on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Ershadul Islam (35), son of late Ehsanul Haque of Islampur village under Burimari union of Patgram.
Local sources said the incident took place when Ershadul and his associates went near the 845 main pillar and sub pillar no 2 to bring cattle from India.
A patrol team of 148 BSF of Changrabandha camp in Cochbihar district shot him when they were returning with cattle. The dead body was sent to the district hospital morgue for an autopsy, Mansur Ali, officer in charge (OC) of Patgram Police Station said.
Bangladesh Boarder Guard (BGB) 61 Battalion Burimari camp sources said they have heard about the incident and were looking into the matter.
