‘Militant’ arrested in Khulna
UNB, Khulna
 A suspected militant was held at Sheikhpara in the city on Sunday midnight. The arrestee was identified as Mahmud Hasan Anik, 28, member of a banned 'militant' group. Tipped off, a team of police raided the house of Anik around 12 am and arrested him for his suspected involvement in militancy, said Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Khandaker Lutfur Kabir.


Illegal structures demolished

Chattogram district administration in a drive on Sunday demolished four illegal establishments, including shops erected on three acres of railway land, from Fuzdarhat area under Sitakunda upazila of the district. Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner land of Sitakunda upazila Mahmudul Hoque along with police personnel conducted the drive and demolished different kinds of semi pucca shops from Fuzdarhat area under Sitakunda upazila of the district. The illegal slums built on the land of Bangladesh Railway that gradually turned into business point in Fuzdarhat area under Sitakunda upazila, said Mahmudul Hoque.


CTOP wins RCCI Board of Directors election

The Combined Traders’ Oikko Parisahd (CTOP) won all 18 posts in two groups in the election of Board of Directors of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) for the next two-year (2019-2021)term.  “Led by incumbent President of RCCI Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu, the CTOP won all 12 posts in General Group and all six in Associate Group in the election held at Police Hall auditorium in the city on Saturday,” a press release said yesterday. A total of 18 candidates contested for 12 posts in General Group and 13 candidates for six posts in Associate Group from two panels in the election held uninterruptedly from 9 am to 4 pm.
