In an attempt to perform deception, Mizanur Rahman, suspended deputy inspector general (DIG) of police, yesterday filed two applications before two separate benches of the High Court Division seeking anticipatory bail in a corruption case. Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer advocate Khurshid Alam Khan told The Independent that Mizanur Rahman violating the rules and regulations by filing two bail applications.
“It is a deception. He violated the legal provision. He wanted to dodge us at the hearing of his bail application. He tried to secure bail by keeping the ACC and concerned lawyers in confusion,” the ACC lawyer said.
As per the law, an accused can file a bail application only before oa bench of the HC. But Mizanur Rahman filed two separate bail applications before two separate benches of the HC, he added.

He also said that they are well-prepared to conduct legal fight against bail of Mizanur Rahman in the case. "We will oppose his bail application," he added.
Mizanur Rahman submitted the bail petition through his lawyer advocate Asaduzzaman Khan. The ACC filed the case on June 24 against Mizanur Rahman on the charge of committing corruption, taking bribe and amassing illegal wealth.
ACC director Manjur Morshed filed the case against Mizanur Rahman, his wife Sohelia Anar Ratna, nephew sub-inspector Mahmudul Hasan and younger brother Mahbubur Rahman.
