The condition of National Film Award winning popular actor Riaz, who suffered a cardiac arrest during the shooting of a film, has improved after undergoing an urgent surgery on Monday night. Riaz was admitted to the city’s Apollo Hospital as he suffered a cardiac arrest at about 8:00pm during the shooting of the film ‘Krishnapakkha’, which has been directed by Meher Afroz Shaon. After an angiogram, four block vessels were detected in Riaz’s heart; a coronary stent was installed to one of the blocks and three more stents will be attached. According to the assistant director of ‘Krishnapakkha’ Jewel Rana, the actor’s condition has improved. He is now being kept at the Coronary Care Unit of the hospital. The news of the actor’s illness created shock waves and major concern for his co-artistes and fans. To note, Riaz-acted ‘Krishnapakkha’ is set to release on Humayun Ahmed’s birthday on November 13. l
