Probe report against Khaleda in murder case Sept 3

A Dhaka court yesterday set September 3 to submit probe report in a murder case lodged against four including BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Tofazzal Hossain set the date as officer in-charge (investigation) of Gulshan Police Station failed to submit the report yesterday.

The other three accused in the case are BNP standing committee member Rafikul Islam Miah, BNP chairperson’s adviser Prof Emajuddin Ahmed and former adviser Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury.

Jananetri Parishad president AB Siddique filed the case on February 2, 2015, for causing deaths of 42 and loss of state properties worth millions in the arson attacks those were unleashed after nationwide blockade called by the BNP chief.  

Nowshaba tarnished state image through rumours: IO

BSS, Dhaka

Investigation Officer (IO) of a case against actress Nowshaba Ahmed for spreading rumours on social networking site Facebook, said the accused has tarnished image of the state by spreading rumours willingly and in a planned way.

The IO and police’s Countre Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit Inspector Shawkat Ali said these in the charge sheet filed recently. He has made 20 people as witnesses in the case.

The case is scheduled to be heard on May 28.

The IO in the charge sheet further alleged that the actress tried to deteriorate the law and order situation by spreading false and defamatory information and committed offences under section 57 (2) of ICT Act, 2006

(amended).
