Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) arrested a man and seized denominations of fake Bangladesh and Indian currency notes worth Taka 18:91-lakh on Wednesday from Pirjabad Jugitari area in the city.

 “The arrested presumed fake currency note producer and trader is Ali Hossain, son of late Abed Ali of Pirjabad Jugitari area under Kotwali Thana in the city, said a press release issued by RpMP yesterday. On secret information of production and marketing of fake currency notes, a special RpMP team conducted a sudden raid at the house of Ali Hossain.

After searching, the police team seized Bangladeshi fake 600 denominations of Taka 1,000 currency notes and fake 1,100 denominations of Taka 500 currency notes totaling to Taka 11.50-lakh from an old iron box in the house.

The team seized Indian 115 fake denominations of Rupees 2,000 currency notes, 300 fake denominations of Rupees 1,000 currency notes and 430 fake denominations of Rupees 500 currency notes totaling to Rupees 7.45-lakh.
