CHITTAGONG: Chittagong District Police in separate drives arrested six people, including an alleged arms trader, from Lohagara and Sitakunda upazilas of the district on Sunday night and early Monday, reports BSS. The arrested were identified as arms trader Imran Hossain, 26, Rumon Dey, 22, Liton Chandra Deb, 23, Imon Hossain, 28, Rimpol Das, 23, and Sadhon Rani Dey, 40. On a tip-off, a team of Sitakunda Police conducted a raid in Sunni Pukur Par area of South Madhabpur union under Sitakunda Upazila of the district and arrested five people with cocktails, a light gun (LG), three cartridges, a machete, a knife, two iron rods and different sharp weapons on Sunday midnight, said Iftekhar Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sitakunda Thana.
Meanwhile, Lohagara Police, on secret information, raided a microbus on the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar Highway in Chunoti Khan Dighi area under Lohagara of the district and nabbed Imran yesterday with an LG and four rounds of cartridges, said Sub-Insectr (SI) Mohammad Solaiman of Lohagara Thana.
Two separate cases were filed in these connections.
Another report adds: Chittagong District Police in a raid arrested a ‘drug smuggler’ with 1,000 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from Lohagara upazila of the district early Monday. The arrestee was identified as Munna Hoque, 36, hailing from Koiyabill village of Chakaria upazia under Cox's Bazar. A team of Lohagara police on secret information raided a passenger bus of Saudia Transport Service in front of Jangalia Forest office in Lohagara upazila early yesterday and arrested Munna with the yaba tablets, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Solaiman of Lohagara thana.
