A lecturer of Chittagong Medical College (CMC) was stabbed by some unidentified assailants at his residence in Rongipara in Halishahar area of the city. The injured physician was identified as Tareque Shams (36) came under attack yesterday morning. Tareque is son of Prof Anwara Alam, Principal of Agrabad Mohila College, Chittagong and renowned physician Shamshul Alam. Some assailants hacked him indiscriminately with sharp weapons while he opened his door. Critically injured, the physician was whisked off to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. “The physician and his wife live in a ground floor apartment while his parents upstairs. During the assault, the wife of the physician was not at home,” said Arefin Jewel, Chittagong Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner.
