Companies
asked to recall
items in 4 days

Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) has directed the companies concerned, whose names were appeared in the list of 52 substandard products, to withdraw their products within the next three or four days from the market. Mohammad Mahfuzul Haque, Chairman of the BFSA gave this directive yesterday after receiving the official list of those 52 products from the Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution (BSTI)

Earlier, on Sunday the High Court (HC) gave a directive to the authorities concerned to immediately withdraw 52 food items of different brands from the market. Talking to The Independent, Dr Shahadev Chandra Saha, director of enforcement of BFSA said that three-four days are good enough for the companies to withdraw their products from the market.

“We will publish advertisements in the newspapers about this so that all the businesses can know about the directive. We will also send letters to the business organisations, and market associations and trade bodies, said Saha adding that they have already sent some letters. After four working days, said the BFSA director, if the products are not removed from the market, then they will take punitive measures through mobile court.
