Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury Shujan reiterated the words what BBC President Nazmul Hassan Papon told media on Saturday regarding their imminent tour to Sri Lanka.
BCB CEO stated that Bangladesh will not tour Sri Lanka in such security situation of the islands nation. But the final decision will be taken in the next meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) which will be held in Singapore towards the end of this month.
“It’s not possible to make our tour to Sri Lanka what our president told media earlier of this week. We’re keeping in touch with our embassy to Sri Lanka as well as Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC),” said Nizamuddin Chowdhury Shujan.
“What is happened will be decided in the next meeting of the ACC,” Shujan told media at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur yesterday. When asked about any possibility of holding the series in Bangladesh, the CEO said that they are mulling to propose Sri Lanka to host the series in Bangladesh if the tour is not finally done. “We’ve a business in our international schedule. Therefore, it’ll be problem for us to host the short series. It’s just a matter of 10 more days,” he said.
“Due to the security situation in Sri Lanka if the tour is not finally happened, we will propose Sri Lanka to host the series in Bangladesh. But whatever happens will be finalized in the upcoming ACC meeting,” he singled out.
