Theatre troupe Palakar is going to stage its acclaimed production ‘Ujane Mrityu’ today at the Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital. Based on Syed Waliullah’s last novel with the same title, young director Shamim Sagor has directed the play.
The play depicts the plight of poor people living in the coastal areas through conversations between two fishermen.
The story shows Roj, a boat rider, is pulling a boat oar towards upstream, but Swotto (white dress) wants to go back to the ebb. On the other hand, Tomo (black dress) is misleading one after another on the way to flow tide. Where is the liberation of life? Everyone dressed in white clothes or black is same.
In the play, Aminur Rahman plays the role of boat rider, while Kazi Faisal and Babor Khademi play the characters in white and black dress respectively. Fahmida Mallik Shishir, Satabdi Sanjana and Sonia Akter play other important roles in the play.
Choreographed by Aniket Pal Babu, Fahmida Mallik Shishir has designed costumes and Ajay Das directed the music.
