Absconding Jamaat leader held

Abhoynagore police arrested a union Jamaat leader with two petrol bombs from the house of upazila Jamaat Ameer at village Bonograme on Saturday night. He has been identified as Tabibur Rahman, 52, Jamaat secretary of Basundia union and an inhabitant of Baniargati village. Police said Tabibur Rahman was an accused in 16 cases, including bomb explosion, and sought by the police for long. Officer in-Charge of Abhoynagore police station Nasiruddin said acting on a tip-off, a contingent of police, led by him, raided the house of Jamaat Ameer Moshiur Rahman at village Bonograme. Sensing the police arrival, the Jamaat activists who gathered there for a meeting fled after exploding a cocktail.
Police arrested Tabibur Rahman from there. On his confessional statement police recovered two petrol bombs from the house.
10 fined for polluting river

A mobile court in Jhenidah fined 10 people for polluting Chittra River in Kaliganj upazila of Jhendiah on Saturday.
The court was led by executive magistrate Shahnara Parvin.  The magistrate said the mobile court has fined the ten families because their latrines are directly connected to Chittra River, polluting the water.
 The mobile court fined Abdul Hannan Tk 500, Abdul Zalil Tk 100, Nur Islam Tk 500, Rahima Begum Tk 50, Shahidul Islam Tk 50, Shosti Das Tk 200, Zohra Begum Tk 100, Milton Biswas Tk 200, Ahad Ali Tk 300 and Altu Biswas Tk 200.
Child drowns in trawler capsize

A child drowned in the River Meghna near Ilisha Bishaw road area after a fishing trawler capsized on Saturday evening.
Sources said the fishing trawler of Jahangir Majhi while returning from the river after fishing capsized in strong current with the six on the board.
The fishermen of other trawlers rescued five out of the six. The missing child was the son of Jahangir Majhi. He has been identified as Belal, 3. Sub inspector Bashir Ahmed in-charge of Ilisha police investigation centre said firemen are trying to recover the missing boy.
