Narsingdi police rescued two schoolgirls from Bathuadi village in Narsingdi sadar on October 17, a day after their abduction. The victims have been sexually abused by the kidnappers, police said. The victims hail from Algi village in Madhabdi area and are students of class-X Madhabdi Girls School.
Officer in-charge of sadar police station Abul Kashem said the girls along with their four friends went to Meghna bazaar at Balupurerchar village in Narsingdi sadar on the bank of the River Meghna on October 16.
At about 5 pm, some criminals, allegedly led by Saiful, Azmal, Alta and three others of Balapurerchar village, assaulted the girls and kidnapped two of them at gunpoint. They took them to an unknown place at Bathuadi village and sexually abused them.
Acting on a tip-off, Sadar police on Saturday at about 2:30 am raided Bathuadi village and rescued the two schoolgirls. The criminals sensing the presence of police managed to escape.
Officer in-charge of Sadar police station Abul Kashem said influential people of the village are trying for mutual settlement of the matter. A case has been filed with sadar police station in this connection. Police are trying to arrest the
criminals.
