Police are looking for a 40-year-old man who is suspected of raping an eight-grader in Sreebardi upazila on Wednesday. The victim was alone at her house in Shankar Ghosh village around noon when Ujjal Mia, the suspect, went to her house. He raped the girl finding her alone, police said quoting her relatives.

Locals rescued the victim hearing her scream and took her to Sreebardi Upazila Health Complex. Sherpur police chief Kazi Ashraful Azim said a case had been filed. "We're trying to arrest Ujjal," he added. In Chattogram, police have arrested comedy show 'Mirakkel' star Mohammad Kaikobad on Wednesday for allegedly raping a Chittagong University student. He is also a student of the university’s dramatics department.

Kaikobad was arrested from the campus after a female student filed a case against him, said Belal Uddin Jahangir, officer-in-charge of Hathazari Police Station.

According to case statement, the two met on Facebook in January last year and had an affair. Kaikobad later forced the girl into a physical relationship by blackmailing her.

The victim said Kaikobad asked her to meet him on April 29 on the campus. He allegedly verbally abused her and physically assaulted her before dragging the girl to the Shah Amanat Hall’s guest room.

Later, the university’s proctorial body members rescued her, the victim said.
