‘Lack of health knowledge                 causes childhood malnutrition’

Speakers at a press conference today said lack of knowledge on food values causes childhood malnutrition.

They were holding the press conference at the District Civil Surgeon Office on the occasion                       of National Nutrition  Week.

Civil Surgeon Dr Md Faruq Alam addressed the press conference as the chief guest while officials of different district and upazila levels hospitals and health complexes, among others, were present on the occasion.

Faruq said malnutrition rate among the children is still high in the country as most of the people even the affluent section do not have adequate health knowledge.

Many people do not have adequate knowledge about breastfeeding and supplementary feeding which causes the childhood malnutrition, he said, adding people should be educated on different health issues for improving nutritional status of children.
