A schoolgirl, who was abducted for ransom from Paikgachha in Khulna on Monday, was rescued from Gozariapara in Gazipur yesterday.  A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-1) also arrested Mohammed Delwar Hossain, 26, son of Mohammed Rafiqul Islam of Dattapara village in Netrakona, in this connection.

Lt Commandar Abdullah Al Mamunm, camp commandar of RAB-1 of Gazipur Purabari camp, said the victim was abducted on Monday from Paikgachha in Khulna. After the abduction, the kidnappers demanded Tk2 lakh in ransom from the girl’s father over the phone and threatened to kill his daughter unless he paid the ransom money.  Following the ransom demand, the girl’s father filed a general diary with  Paikgachha Police Station.  

Later, using a mobile tracker, the elite force conducted a raid at Gozariapara in Gazipur and detained Delwar Hossain from a shop. On information from Delwar, RAB rescued the girl from a house of the area.
