4 clubs send joint letter to BCB
to delay eves’ premier league

A string of the participating teams of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) for women’s cricket sent a joint letter to Women’s Wing of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to delay the start of the looming DPDCL.

All the clubs including Abahani Limited, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan Samity and Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) in their joint letter cited that they are all in business in the ongoing male’s DPDCL. For this, they told the apex body to delay the outset of the league for some more days.

Nazmul Abedin Faheem, team operating manager of the BCB women’s wing, admitted the matter of the letter and said that they are not delaying the start of the league.

Faheem also said that they are talking with the clubs to convince them to play in scheduled timeframe so that they could finish the league within the first week of the fasting month.

“We have month of Ramadan ahead. If we delay some more days for the request of the clubs, in that case, players have to play all the games of the league in the entire month of Ramadan,” said Nazmul Abedin Faheem.

“Even we are gradually proceeding towards the rainy days. If we delay further, the league will be affected by rains,” Faheem told The Independent.

“We’ve international assignments ahead. If we delay the start of the league, our international programme will also be affected by it,” he added.

In addition, Bangladesh national women’s team will travel to Pakistan in August to play a series which was a part of a reciprocal series. Pakistan women’s team came here in Bangladesh to play series last year prior to their ICC Women’s World T20, West Indies-2018.

The Tigresses will then play the qualifying round of the ICC World Cup in September this year.

As per the schedule, the premier league is all set to roll onto the ground on April 25 following their players’ transfer which is slated to take place on April 20, four days before the onset of the league.
