Bunon Theatre will stage its eighth production ‘Secret of History’ today at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital. The play will be staged as a part of the ongoing eight-day-long drama festival titled ‘Syed Badruddin Hossain Smriti Natya Utsab’.
On the occasion of 96th birth anniversary of lifetime president of Padatik Natya Sangsad Syed Badruddin Hossain, Padatik Natya Sangsad has organised the festival, which is being held at three theatre halls of BSA simultaneously.
Written by Anan Zaman, associate professor of Jahangirnagar University’s Drama and Dramatics Department, the play ‘Secret of History’ is directed by Shuddhoman Choiton. The play depicts the brutal killing of four national leaders at Dhaka Central Jail in 1975.
The cast of the play includes Ashraful Bilash, Tushar Kanti Dey Rajan, Abu Fahim, Abid Hasan Nirjhar, Saatil Raas, Hajera Akter Keya, Amit Chowdhury, Tushar Sohag and others.
The play was premiered on May 19 in 2017 at BSA.
Besides, Theatre troupe Stage One Dhaka will bring their acclaimed production ‘Suchona’ at the National Theatre Hall of BSA, while Bangla Theatre (Sylhet) will stage its play ‘Bhelua Shundari’ - a well-known folk ballad from ‘Purbabanga Geetika’ at the Studio Theatre Hall of BSA today.
Padatik NatyaSangsad has been organising the festival since 2010.
