UK professor meets DU VC

Professor Lisa Gordon Clark of the University of Roehampton, the United Kingdom called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman yesterday at the latter’s office.

Chairperson of the Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology of DU Prof Mahjabeen Haque, Prof Shaheen Islam, Founder of the Orphan Trust, the UK Mina Morris and some other faculty members were present on the occasion.

During the meeting, they stressed the need for development of skills to take care of children properly.

The possibilities of introducing training programme on child care at DU with the technical assistance from the UK were also discussed in the meeting.

 Later, Prof Lisa Gordon Clark delivered a lecture in a seven-day training programme on “Therapeutic Play” at the Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology of DU.

Workshop on information rights act held at JU

A daylong workshop on ‘Information Rights Act – 2019’ was held on Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus on Saturday.

Friedrich Naumann Foundation Bangladesh (FNFB) and Development for Network (DNET) jointly organised the workshop at the seminar room of JU philosophy department.

Director (Research and Publication) of Information Commission Md Abdul Hakim addressed the programme as the chief guest.

Chief Programme Officer of DNET Md Farhad Uddin, Finance Manager of FNFB Tanvir Ahsan and Technical Operation Manager of DNET Andalib Bin Haq were present at the programme as trainers.

The trainers imparted training on the process of manual and digital applications for gathering any types of information under information rights act.

After ending the programme, certificates were awarded among the participants.   A total of 60 students from different departments and institutes took part at the programme.

Seminar on ‘Multiple Positive Solution’ held at IU

Mathematics department organised a daylong seminar on ‘Existence of Multiple Positive Solution to the Caputo-type Nonlinear Fractional Deferential Equation with Integral Boundary Value Conditions’ was held at the departmental laboratory room of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Saturday.

PhD fellow M Asaduzzaman, Associate Professor of Mathematics department of the university, explained his article under the supervisor of Dr M Zulfikar Ali, a Professor of Mathematics department of Rajshahi University, while Prof M Abul Kawser, chairman of Mathematics department, was in the chair.

 IUTA president Prof M Kamal Uddin, Prof Ruhul KM Saleh, Economics department chairman Debashish Sharma, Statistics department chairman Associate Prof M Sazzad Hossain, Finance department chairman Assistant Professor Sutap Kumar Ghosh, Prof M Anower Hossain and among other teachers were took part at the seminar.

Bangabandhu inter-university sports champ begins

The football match of ‘Bangabandhu Inter-University Sports Champ-2019’ began on the playground of Gono Bishwabidyaly yesterday, says a press release.

Md Delowar Hossain, president, Venue Management Committee and Registrar of Gono Bishwabidyalay, inaugurated the match.

 Prof Dr Laila Parveen Banu, vice-chancellor (Acting), Gono Bishwabidyalay, and Md Abul Kasem Shikder, Director, Information & Public Relations Division, Bangladesh Open University, addressed among others in the inaugural ceremony.

‘Bangabandhu Inter University Sports Champ-2019’ organised by Ministry of Youth and Sports began on Friday which inaugurated by Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal. A total of 65 teams from public and private universities of Bangladesh are participating in this tournament. Among the ten events, Gono Bishwabidylay has been selected as venue of football match.

Total 21 matches will be held at central playground of Gono Bishwabidylay till April 17, 2019.

Two matches were held yesetrday. In the first match, Fareast University defeated Bangladesh Open University by 5-0 goals. On the other hand, Islam University defeated Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University by penalty shootout 3 goals to 1.
