
Youth shot dead by ‘robbers’

A young man was gunned down by suspected robbers at Samparkandi village in Balaganj upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Sahab Uddin, 26, son of Surman Ali, a resident of the village.
Gazi Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Balaganj Police Station, said that a gang of robbers stormed into the houses of Surman Ali and Sohrab around 4am. They shot Shahab after he obstructed them. The injured was taken to Balaganj Upazila Health Complex where doctors pronounced him dead.Besides, two people were also injured in the attack.
“It might be a planned murder,” the OC said, adding that they are investigating the incident.
Bhutanese PM mourns loss of lives in Banani fire

Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the loss of lives in the devastating fire at FR Tower in Banani in Dhaka.
The Bhutanese premier offered this condolence in a message sent to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Twenty-six people were killed and at least 100 others injured in Thursday’s inferno at the 22-storey FR Tower at Banani in the city.
Workshop on sustainable goal held

A workshop on Sustainable Development Goal in Health Sector and Health, Population and Nutrition(4th HPNSP) Programme was held at RDRS Auditorium in the city yesterday.
Md Ashadul Islam, secretary, Health and Family Welfare Ministry was chief guest in the event. He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina instructed all the doctors and nurses will be present in the hospitals in time. Prime Minister warned if found any doctor or nurse absent in work place will take drastic action against them.
