
Stolen medicines seized in Bagura

Medicines, stolen from government hospitals, worth around Tk 1 crore were seized in Bagura yesterday morning.
Police said they raided a multi-storey building at Mofiz Paglar More acting on a tip-off.
“We seized a huge quantity of medicine from warehouses on the second, third and fourth floors,” said SM Badiuzzaman, the officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
Robin Trade International’s proprietor Mizanur Rahman Robin, who owned the warehouses, was arrested, the OC said.
“He had the medicines stolen from various government hospitals,” the police officer said. “Robin used to sell these medicines to other pharmacies.”
Bicycle procession against social curses held in Panchagarh

Adolescents’ brought out a bicycle rally and participated in a mini marathon race competition today in Panchagarh town to raise awareness against sexual harassment, child marriage, dowry, drug abuse, militancy and acid terrorism.
With assistance of Panchagarh District Education Office, Eco Social Development Organisation (ESDO) in collaboration with Polli Karma Sohayok Foundation (PKSF) organised the events to build a peaceful society free from all sorts of social curses.
Hundreds of secondary level female students of ten educational institutions of the sub-Humayun district participated in the bicycle rally and mini marathon race competition that paraded the main streets from Sadar upazila parishad premises.
The participants chanted awareness raising slogans to make common people aware of negative impacts of sexual harassment, child marriage, dowry, drug abuse, militancy, acid terrorism and superstitions for building a better and peaceful society.
With Assistant Manager of PKSF from its Dhaka Head Office Suman Chowdhury in the chair, Panchagarh District Education Officer Sankar Kumar Ghosh attended the lunching function held on Sadar upazila parisahd premises as the chief guest.
Headmasters of different secondary level educational institutions, teachers, female students, guardians, civil society members and socio-cultural activists and local ESDO officials attended the ceremony.
Agricultural officials urged for discharging duties with sincerity

Agricultural extension officials, scientists and researchers were urged for discharging their duties with more sincerity and honesty for boosting farm outputs.
They also should put in their best efforts and work together for promotion of growers’ level farm mechanization to boost crop outputs.
Additional Secretary (Administration and Inputs) to the Ministry of Agriculture Nazmanara Khanum made the observation while sharing views with officials and researchers from all departments under the ministry at the office conference hall of Additional Director of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) here on Saturday as chief guest.
Chaired by DAE Additional Director Dev Dulal Dhali the meeting was addressed by Deputy Directors Joynal Abedeen, Rafiqul Islam, Shamsul Haque and Monjurul Huda. Principal Scientific Officer of Fruit Research Station Dr Abdul Alim, Principal Scientific Officer of Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute Dr llias Hossain and Principal Scientific Officer of On Farm Research Division Dr Mazharul Anwar also spoke.
The additional secretary revealed that the cropping intensity can be increased to 250 percent even 400 percent from the existing 200 percent through reducing the existing time gap between the two crops after the best uses of the farm mechanization.
To this end, she said, all the officials and others concerned including the scientists and farmers should put in their level best efforts.
