Military hardware exhibition going on in capital

BSS, Dhaka

Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force are exhibiting their hardware marking 49th Independence and National Day at National Parade Square in the capital.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the display on March 24 and it is open for all from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm everyday till March 31. President Md Abdul Hamid visited the exhibition on March 25.

 “The main goals of the exhibition is to give people good idea about the rich history of Bangladesh military forces, their contribution in serving the country and the nation, their activities under United Nations peacekeeping missions, modernisation of the armed forces, about the hardware of the forces and finally to attract the meritorious youths to this glorious and challenging profession,” said Lt Col Abdullah Ibn Zaid, Director of Inter Services Public Relation Directorate at a briefing here.

South African envoy pays farewell call on FM

BSS, Dhaka

South African High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, concurrently accredited to Bangladesh, Robina P Marks made a farewell call on Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen at the latter’s office here yesterday.

During the meeting, she informed that from April 01 this year, South Africa will carry out its diplomatic relations with Bangladesh from its Mission in New Delhi, said a press release of the Foreign Ministry.

Dr Momen expressed satisfaction at the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and South Africa and highlighted the immense potential to further strengthen bilateral ties, especially in trade and investment.

Free health camp in capital

BSS, Dhaka

Brac Bank today organised a free health camp to mark the 49th Independence and National Day at one its branch office at Navana Silver Dale in Basabo.

During the day-long camp, they offered people free diabetes and pressure check-ups.

At the same time, the branch promoted their two new offers that the bank has recently unfolded. One of the offers is Golden benefit for the people aged 50 plus.

They will get free insurance coverage if they open account here. In addition, they will get discounted offer in various diagnostic centers and hospitals, attached to the Brac Bank.

Another offer is Future Star, for the under-18 students only. They can open account here only at Taka 100. They will also get free insurance

coverage and in case of accidental death of their legal guardians, they will get Taka 5,000 per month for five years from the Bank.

Dhaka Model United Nation Conference held at ISD

The International School Dhaka (ISD) has recently organised the Dhaka Model United Nation (DHAMUN) conference in the auditorium of ISD for students of 8 schools, says a press release.

A total of 150 students from 8 different schools including ISD, had participated in the DHAMUN conference. Each student chose a country, conducted research on it and presented on a particular issue from the chosen country’s perspective.

The conference was attended by Earl Miller, the Ambassador of the United States of America in Bangladesh, as a chief guest. Shehab Mecky, Deputy Head of Mission, Egypt; Tarek Mustafa, Deputy Managing Director, United Commercial Bank Limited were also present in the conference along with their associates.
