Reception to MPs, KCC mayor

Khulna city unit of Awami League and 14-party alliances yesterday accorded a reception to four parliament members including whip and mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) at the Shaheed Hadis Park in the city. They were given the reception for their contribution to the development of country’s South-Western Zone.
The lawmakers were- Panchanan Biswas, Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel, Akteruzzaman Babu and Advocate Gloria Jharna, Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque and Chairman of Khulna Zila Parishad Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid.
Awami League City Unit General Secretary and coordinator of 14 party-alliance Mizanur Rahman Mizan chaired the function. Central AL leader S M Kamal Hossain and President of Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kazi Aminul Haque, among others, spoke on the occasion.

2 held with 23,620 yaba pills

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two drug traders and recovered 23,620 pieces of contraband yaba tablets during a drive in Nimtala area under Bandar thana early Sunday.
The arrested youths were identified as Mohammad Sohel, 28, and Selim Hossain,34. Masfukur Rahman, Assistant Director of RAB-7 said based on secret information a team of the elite force conducted a drive at Nimtala Bishaw road around 5 am and seized 23,620 pieces of contraband pills hidden inside boxes after searching a salt-laden truck. RAB also seized the truck. The RAB official told journalists that legal action will be taken against the detainees.
