Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a suspected robber along with arms and ammunitions from Shimul Tair area in Sariakandi upazila of Bagura on Saturday night.

The arrestee was identified as Md Jamal Sheikh, 48, son of Sajahan alias Kalu Sheikh of the area.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-12 conducted a drive in the outskirt of Jamuna River sluice gate around 2:30am and arrested Jamal Sheikh who was reportedly planning a robbery in the area. Law enforcers also recovered one shutter gun, one rifle, one ‘chapati’, two sharp knives and five rounds of ammunitions.

In a press conference it was revealed that there were a number of allegations against Jamal Sheikh including collecting ransom, robbery, extortion, tender manipulation, torturing and kidnapping with different police stations of Bagura.
