Roquibul rescues MSC again

Roqibul Hasan yet again maneuvered Mohammedan Sporting Club to triumph when the Motijheel-based team routed Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan Samity by four wickets in their second round match of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.

Riding on Mosaddek Iftekhar’s outstanding 87, Khelaghar SKS posted 225 on board, after which Mohammedan hunted down with four wickets in hand and four balls to spare. Captain Roqibul Hasan slotted through the team with a boundary following a jaw-dropping six while they needed nine runs off the penultimate over.

Roqibul thrashed eight boundaries and a six in his unbeaten 88-ball 84 and was adjudged player of the match for awe-inspiring knock. Abdul Mazid (40), Nadif Chowdhury (39) and Avishek Mitra (27) were the other contributors to Mohammedan.

Elsewhere at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah,  Gazi Group Cricketers edged past BKSP by the identical four wickets. Put in to bat, BKSP garnered 249 for seven in 50 overs courtesy of Mahmudul Hasan Joy (85) and Aminul Islam (not out 63). The duo was aided by Shamim Hossain Patwary (44) and Ratul Khan (34) to widen the total.
