Ferdous Wahid, one of the celebrated singers of Bangladesh, who has delivered some of the most remarkable and evergreen songs like ‘Emon Ekta Ma Dena’, ‘Mamunia’, ‘Agey Jodi Jantam’ among others, turns 67 today.

Sources revealed to DhakaLive that the singer wishes to spend the day at his village home in Bikrampur.

Started his career in the 1970s, this veteran Pop singer Ferdous Wahid has lent his vocal to the songs for over 50 films and has also released 23 single music albums.  His son Habib Wahid also became a pop singer too.

About his evergreen songs, the singer said, “In almost every stage shows that I participated, I had to render those songs. The songs’ popularity never decreased, rather their admirations increasing every day. I seek blessing from everyone to be hale and hearty.”   

The singer lent his vocal for the first time in the film ‘Asami Hajir’, directed by Dewan Nazrul. Here, he sang the song ‘Amar Prithibi Tumi’ while his co-singer was Sabina Yasmin. In his early career, he has worked with Anis Z. Chowdhury, Lucky Akhand and Alam Khan, who composed some of his hit songs.

His other popular renditions include ‘Ogo Tumi Jey Amar Koto Priyo’, ‘Ei Jey Duniya Kishero Lagiya’, ‘Ek Paharadar’ and ‘Ami Ghor Badhilam’, among others.

Alongside being a pop singer, Ferdous Wahid is a film director too. He made his directorial debut with a Bangladeshi film titled ‘Kusumpurer Golpo’ (The Story of Kusumpur).

Currently, he is directing his second film ‘Durdhorsho Abhijan’ where he is also playing an important character as well.
