No bypass road in Domar town despite land acquisition
OUR CORRESPONDENT, Nilphamari
In spite of acquisition of acres of land several years ago, a bypass road is yet to be constructed in Domar upazila town to ease the unbearable traffic congestion.
Hundreds of acres were directly acquired from farmers for constructing the road to the southwest side of town In FY2012-13. But five years have passed since that time and there is no sign of that proposed bypass.
Currently, more than 150 trucks, along with local and long-route buses, ply on the main road through the middle of this upazila town. This poses the risk of accident and creates traffic tailbacks.
When this correspondent contacted the executive engineer of the roads and highways department (Nilphamari), Md AKM HamiduL Rahman, regarding the matter, he said that the budget for this bypass road may be passed in the coming ECNEC meeting.
