3 ‘muggers’ held in capital

Police arrested three suspected muggers from Atarbibi Lane of Malibagh area in the city scrutinising video footage which went viral on social media recently. The arrestees are Farhad Fakir, Yousuf Ali and Jasim Matabbar. A gang of muggers who snatched away mobile phones, ATM cards and cash from rickshaw passenger Monir Uddin showing sharp weapons at Malibagh on March 1. The CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media immediately after it. Shahjahanpur Police Station, Assistant Commissioner (Sabujbagh Zone) Md Rashed Hasan said police started investigating into the case after Monir filed a case with the police station on Friday night.

Discussion marking Int’l Women Day held

The Association of Grassroots Women Entrepreneurs Bangladesh (AGWEB), in partnership with IFIC Bank Limited, organised a panel discussion titled ‘Balance for better-Question time’ on Saturday on the occasion of celebrating the International Women’s Day 2019. The event was held at the auditorium of the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) in the city’s Topkhana Road. Aroma Dutta, Member of Parliament; Md Mosharraf Hossian Bhuiyan, NDC, senior secretary, Internal Resource Division (IRD) and chairman, National Board of Revenue (NBR), Ministry of Finance; Dr Atiur Rahman, former governor, Bangladesh Bank, Syed Mabubur Rahman, chairman, Association of Bankers, Bangladesh (ABB); Md Shafiqul Islam, Science and Technology Secretary, Central committee Bangladesh Awami Juba League; Shomi Kaiser, prominent actress and director, FBCCI took part in the panel discussion. Mousumi Islam, president, AGWEB, moderated the event on ‘Balance for better-Question time’.
