Even if the main target is to return to the national fold, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat said that he focused more on his own performance in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League (DPL).

Saikat believes that if he could perform whatever level it is, he will have good chance to return to the national fold again.

“What I think is that we are those who play in the national team and who are outside of the national team, every match is an opportunity for us all. So, it’s not premier league or BPL. Every match is an opportunity for us. Wherever we will perform there will have opportunity much for us,” said Mosaddek Hossain.

“I think, premier league is a big platform for us. It will be easier for me to return to the fold if I could perform,” Saikat told media at the national academy of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur yesterday after their practice session for their second match against Uttara Sporting Club.

 “Actually, it should not be focused for me to stay or not in the 30-member squad as a professional player. My main target is to stay in 15-men main squad. And if I get another chance after doing well that’s will be my target. Now I don’t think much about other things. I focus only on my performance,” he added.

When asked about their DPL match, Saikat who captains Abahani Limited, said that they will get down the next matches overcoming their batting woes.

“As it was first match, so it was important for us to win the tie. Whatever the team is our main target was to win. As a batsman, it’s right that all of our top-order batsmen collapsed except Omi bhai (Jahurul Islam). He really batted exceptionally,” he said.

“All the opening day’s matches have been high scoring. Wicket was not bad. But initially it was slow. For this, it might be collapsed the top order. Hopefully they all will overcome it,” he added.

He said that they are focusing on winning as much as possible in the initial stage of the meet.

“Actually the team we have formed, I think, our big match will be in the latter part of the tournament. So, our target is to keep us ahead as much as possible as there is a matter of point,” he responded.

“We’re focusing on winning as much as possible at the initial stages. If we think much about it, it will obviously be difficult for us to perform. So, we’re thinking about our performance, the feedback will be got afterwards,” continued.

“As so far as I know, Mashrafe bhai is supposed to join the team after the initial three matches. A match has already gone. So he will join after only two matches,” he told in response to another question.

“The rest of the players will join in March 22. Then our team will be stronger enough,” he concluded.
